Keith Grey was an alderman and mayor of Shellharbour Municipal Council.

Keith was elected alderman in 1936, which began a career spanning 41 consecutive years, 14 of which he served as mayor, and six of which he served as deputy mayor.

Among Keith’s most notable achievements during his time in local government was bringing water supply to the municipality in 1955. He also pioneered the Home Nursing Service and the first Baby Health Centre in Albion Park. In 1949 he accepted the prestigious AR Bluett Memorial Award won by Shellharbour Municipal Council for excellence in Local Government.

Keith also served as a member and chairman of the Illawarra County Council and as an executive member of the Local Government Association for 22 years.

In 1975, he was awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to local government. Keith Grey Oval at Albion Park is named in his honour
